I used to live in Halmahera where I travelled to learn the impact of second war world in the area. Later I went to Biak, Papua where I found the monument of second war world that was built by the Indonesian government and Japan to promise for not repeating the war.
War is an international issue to relate with so many people. Those who died on the war could not be comprehended in the number especially in the second war world as what I saw in one of the cave in Biak where hundreds of Japanese soldiers were bombed out by the NATO allies.
However...the war have not finished yet...now we have wars everywhere...
Later I had to write my dissertation on the mass violence that brought common people from different religions in North Moluccas Province to commit into a type of civil war.
Write my research was very painful. With hope after a long of periode when I had been sick from lots of traumatic experiences facing this tragedy, I could finish writing my dissertation. If you would like to read it, I can provide the link in this blog.
What was very important that came out from the suffering was I promise for not teaching only at the class room. I want to be with people those who are at the grass roots because this people could be easily involved with the violent action.
What are questions that we should reflect in this blog? Since this blog is a popular way for sharing to others on how we work together in preventing conflict and violence in the society, I would like to offer different approaches. It is not going to be my theory on peace, but rather to share how people, a common society to work on mainting peace together.
Let start now to learn how we can remaking society and reshaping peace efforts for the sustainable society in this earth. May God guide us in our journey of learning together.
Salam. Actually "salam" is an Indonesian word that given from the Arabic that means "peace". It is like "shalom" in Hebrew. May peace of God be with all us.
